Raise the Bar was inspired by the courage and generous spirit of Michael R. Perry, Jr., who while fighting his own battle with cancer, sought ways to help others. Mike challenged his friends to raise the bar with efforts to help those with financial concerns caused by health related issues.

Mike lived in Greenwich, CT all of his life and served in various positions at the Stamford Advocate and Greenwich Time Newspaper where his last position was Senior Vice President of Marketing. Mike was deeply involved in the local community having served on various boards, coaching sports and other civic activities.

Founded in 1997, Raise the Bar has been mobilized by a board of community minded volunteers using the strength, energy and resources of supporters and donors. Though Mike died in 1999, he continues to forever be our inspiration.
